CMT and Hip Hop Video Shows now receive video from DMDS

DMDS Pro members can send to hip hop outlets at no cost in February

DMDS welcomes Country Music Television (CMT) along with CMT Pure Country and CMT.com as the latest national music video broadcaster to come onboard with digital broadcast video submissions via DMDS. Reaching more than 91 million homes, CMT is the leading television and digital authority on country music and entertainment. They plan to complete the transition to digital by March 31st, 2011, so DMDS Pro members can now instantly deliver country music videos to this network for broadcast.

Hip hop labels and their artists will be happy to hear that we’ve pumped up the number of underground hip hop video outlets that receive DMDS. From now until Feb. 28th, when you submit videos to two or more national TV broadcasters like MTV/VH1, CMT, BET, Music Choice, MuchMusic, etc, you’ll receive a free send to the Music Video Outlets - Urban/Hip Hop (USA) list, which includes some of the following destinations:

  • The California Music Channel – A Bay Area station that provides major and independent music to their audience. www.cmc-tv.com
  • IDoit4TV.com - They help artists generate over 28 million views. With just one click visitors can watch the latest videos from both Hip-Hop and Pop culture icons. This show will debut on Cablevision/Time Warner Cable this summer! www.idoit4tv.com
  • The Urban DVD Shop – A marketing DVD service to 350 barbershops in 36 states.
  • Media Place and In-Store Sports Network – they provide programming nationwide including Foot Locker, Champs, Footaction, MetroPCS and many other locations! www.mediaplace.us
  • Yadibox.com – A worldwide entertainment group based out of Philadelphia, PA.YADIBOX has over 3 million loyal listeners/viewers from Philly, Delaware, NJ/ NYC, LA, Miami, Atlanta, Vegas, Maryland, DC, Virginia, Dirty South, Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda and Brazil. www.yadibox.com

Updated Video Submission Process

Earlier this month we deployed the latest software updates to DMDS. These new features will help music video senders to create submission forms that many of the national music video broadcasters like MTV Networks and BET use. Here is the latest update:

When you Create a New Release and select ‘Video’ as your Release Type. You will notice that you will be prompted to select your destinations first, prior to completing additional information.

Video Submission Process

Let’s say that I am planning on delivering a submission to MTV, MTV2, MTVu, MTV Hits and MTV Jams. On the ‘Destinations’ tab, I select Organization and from the search dialogue, type MTV and select the stations I am interested in submitting to.

Video Submission Process

On the ‘Files’ tab, I can select the video I want to send. By clicking the ‘Edit’ icon (the one that looks like a Pencil) I can expand the metadata entry screen. Pictured below, the required fields for your selected destinations will be highlighted. Please make sure you fill out both the standard AND the destination specific fields. When you’re done, don’t forget to click the ‘UPDATE METADATA’ button.

Video Submission Process

We’ve also added another new feature to the Create Release process to help make sure you didn’t miss any information. The ‘Submission Validation’ window reminds you of any critical and/or optional data areas you might want to include and update in your Release.

After viewing the pricing page you can complete your submission and await feedback from the destination.

Video Submission Process

So you can’t kill the attaching of the old submission form just yet…but you can in just a few weeks. At that point we will be launching Phase 2 which will give the Broadcaster destinations the detailed information they need in an appropriate format to expedite the intake of your music video, the associated data and all other clearance information.

Manager Software Enhancements

The DMDS Manager software is the tool that makes your lives easier and more efficient by managing and organizing the secure uploading and downloading of broadcast-ready files.  Manager version 5.0.5 was recently released with a myriad of enhancements including:

Uploaders - Automatic Quality Control Check for Video

Now, when you drag and drop a video file to be uploaded, the Manager automatically tests the file for 8 different specifications including frame rate, bit rate, number of audio channels, etc. Within seconds, you’ll see a report like this:

Video QA

Red indicates aspects that don’t meet broadcast specifications, so if your video file is a final submission intended for broadcast, you’ll be aware of changes that need to be made before you upload it. If you see nothing but green, it’s good to go.

Downloaders – Automated File Management

Your downloaded audio files and video files will now be contained in separate folders, as you’ll be able to see from the Download Menu:

Automated File Management

Beyond that, SD video and HD video will be downloaded to separate folders, making it simple to find your SD downloads and HD downloads.

Yangaroo DMDS Goes Social

Launches Facebook and Twitter pages to spread the word about its latest destinations

When you build a system that sends broadcast quality audio and video faster than anyone else, you need to get the word out as quickly as possible about all the great new places that accept new content from DMDS. After all, we’re adding new radio stations, television stations, music video shows, and publicity outlets on a daily basis. To that end we’ve set up pages on Facebook and Twitter that give you minute-by-minute updates on the latest outlets that we’re signing up.

We’ll also include information on the latest promotions and events that are available for DMDS Pro members. Check out pictures from Canadian Music Week or College Music Journal Music Marathon. Check out links to the websites of the latest broadcasters who have signed on to our site. Canadian Music Week 2011

We’re looking for a few good releases!

Canadian Music Week 2011 is right around the corner and DMDS is setting up a tradeshow booth with RDR Music, one of our partners who works with Canadian independent artists. This is the fifth year in a row that we’ve held a presence at CMW and each year our attendance numbers continue to grow. As a consistent presenter we are able to secure one of the best booths at the main entrance to the tradeshow. As a result, last year over 5,000 artists, music industry VIPs, broadcasters, and other delegates attended our CMW showcase!

CMW

For 2011 we’d like to showcase as many singles, albums, and music videos from new artists and their record labels as possible. We have developed the following series of special CMW lists that you can choose directly from your DMDS Pro account that provide special exposure for your artists or your label at CMW 2011.

Our CMW 2011 Premier List includes:

  • A DMDS release of your latest single to the Top 100 radio stations in the format of your choice
  • We'll distribute your marketing material to everyone we meet at the show. Use your latest flyer, press kit, touring schedule, or discography and we'll hand them out to everyone
  • Your label logo is included on our marketing materials that we will actively hand to all of our visitors throughout the show
  • Your music or video will be played on DMDS throughout the show so everyone who walks by our booth will see or hear what you and your artists are all about
  • Talk up your latest music project with the help of our marketing and promotional teams. Call your promotional contacts and tell them you'll be at CMW with DMDS!

Our CMW 2011 Basic List includes:

  • Your label logo is included on our marketing materials and we will actively hand this out all of our broadcast contacts throughout the show
  • Your music or video will be played on DMDS throughout the show so everyone who walks by our booth will see or hear what you and your artists are all about
  • Talk up your latest music project with the help of our marketing and promotional teams. Call your promotional contacts and tell them you'll be at CMW with DMDS!

You can send to either of these lists by creating a new release using your DMDS Pro account to either the CMW 2011 Premier or CMW 2011 Basic list. If you don't have a DMDS Pro account or would like more information on either of these options please contact Michael Anthony at 1-855-534-0607 x126 or at Michael.Anthony@yangaroo.com.

Indie Artist Spotlight

Jonas & The Massive Attraction

Jonas And The Massive Attraction

Jonas & The Massive Attraction’s first DMDS Direct – delivered single, “Big Slice” peaked at #7 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart, and the recently released follow up, “Seize The Day” received four ads in its first week of release. Watch for big things from these Montréal rockers, and if you happen to be in Toronto for CMW, catch their showcase at the Tattoo Rock Parlour, Friday March 11th at 8pm.

"With DMDS Direct, we get our singles to the right people at the right stations at the press of a button.  Working with our tracker, we're able to see exactly which stations are listening and downloading the songs - a huge advantage over the old days of sending out CD’s and hoping they get to the top of the pile!"
