Radio Matters: A recent study by Nielsen

A recent study by Nielsen asked average Americans (age 13+) how they discovered new music. Here’s what they found:

  • 90% listen to music at least once a day
  • 48% discover new music most often on traditional mainstream radio
  • 23% discover new music most often via friends/relatives, Youtube, and iTunes combined.

What does it all mean?

  • Radio is still the #1 way people discover new music
  • It’s time to get your music in front of radio programmers.
