Major Music Video Networks Move to High Definition Broadcasts

MuchMusic, BET, and Music Choice to receive HD closed-captioned music videos instantly via DMDS

DMDS, the leading digital delivery service for sending music videos to broadcasters in North America, is pleased to announce that three national music video networks – BET, MuchMusic, and Music Choice – will require High Definition (HD) music videos for airplay beginning in June.

The service expands on DMDS’ existing delivery service for Standard Definition (SD) music video, which has quickly become the preferred method for MTV Networks and many other national broadcasters to receive videos for airplay. A major reason for this is that DMDS fully supports file-based closed captioning for HD music videos, which are required by law in the United States, Canada, and many other countries.
